Universal Debt Management, a performance based company,  can help you by negotiating on your behalf when you are “drowning” in credit card debt. With many Americans living paycheck to paycheck, it only takes one accident or mishap for financial matters to spiral out of control. We understand that credit cards are the first thing most people don’t pay when they have a financial hardship.

When you are in a position where your expenses are greater than your income, you have 2 choices: increase your income, or reduce your debt.

  One affordable monthly payment

Some settlements have resulted in 40%-70% less debt, making it more affordable for a family to survive in today’s economy

An alternative to bankruptcy

There are 4 choices available to you to reduce your debt:

1. Credit Counseling which involves having a company negotiate lower interest rates for you on your credit cards, and lump all your payments together into one payment. This type of program requires that you pay back 100% of the principal balance plus interest. It usually takes many years to complete these types of programs, and there are severe penalties if you are late on a payment. Credit counseling does not give you relief where you need it the most - by reducing your monthly payments. There is usually a fee charged for credit counseling.

2. Continue Doing What You Are Doing. If your monthly payments are not affordable, you will probably continue to remain in an unacceptable situation. With late payment and over limit fees being added, there is little hope of being able to survive trying to make those payments.

3. Bankruptcy. With recent changes to the bankruptcy laws, qualifying for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy has become more difficult. If someone qualifies for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, they would probably not have the means to repay their debts through any other type of program.  If you are in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, a Court Trustee determines how much you pay back and how much you can keep for yourself each month. Bankruptcy stays on your credit for 10 years.

4. Debt Settlement or Debt Negotiation. At Universal Debt Management we act on your behalf, negotiating with your creditors to pay a portion of what is owed, with the remaining balance “forgiven” by the creditor.
